TEXAS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ENDURO CIRCUIT

THE PREMIERE ENDURO RACING SERIES IN TEXAS SINCE 1973

WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE

TEXAS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ENDURO CIRCUIT

TSCEC THEN…

TSCEC was founded in 1973 by Roy Pool as Chairman with Ken Almond, Fred Barney and W. T. Cotton as the Enduro Committee until the Club Council was set up as the governing board. There were ten clubs and ten enduros that first year; Roy was Chairman for 19 years before handing it off to Stan Simpson.

In those early days there were only a few enduros in the state so they would designate one single race a year as the “TEXAS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ENDURO” and as we all know, one mistake/bad luck/mechanical problem can ruin your race and you lose for the year so for that reason, Roy and his friends decided to create a state-wide circuit for Texas riders only and called it “The Texas State Championship Enduro Circuit” because of the previous name designation.

Roy could be described as a “Benevolent Dictator” as he ran TSCEC his way but with the guidance of the Club Council, much the same as now, two representatives from each participating club but there were several topics that were not open to debate, one that was the Circuit would not be AMA Sanctioned and only residents of Texas could accumulate points. In about 1983, many of the West Texas clubs, who depended on riders from New Mexico and Colorado tried to get that rule changed but to no avail. The High Plains Circuit was created to allow ALL participants to amass points regardless of residence and the East Texas clubs followed suit by creating the Sabine Circuit. Under Stan Simpson’s leadership, he was able to combine them back in with TSCEC just as separate divisions.
