Circuit History

Summary

Year Event
1973 Roy and Lynett Pool organize TSCEC. Roy is chairman of the TSCEC for the first 19 years.
1974 Ray Leatherwood (Childress) begins publishing Endo News, a newspaper providing information and stories about the TSCEC.
1976 The Hall of Fame is established to recognize those who achieve an outstanding level of performance.
1977 Marvin Youngblood becomes the permanent Master of Ceremonies for the Awards Banquet.
1978 The "Rookie of the Year" award is established by Eddie Brasher (Amarillo) in memory of his father. The award recognizes the first year "A" rider with the best circuit score.
1981 Barry and Karla Franklin take over publication of the Endo News.
1985 The San Antonio Sidewinders Motorcycle Club agrees to furnish a Challenge Team Award for short course riders.
1992 Roy Pool is elected TSCEC Chairman Emeritus and Stan Simpson is elected TSCEC President.
1993 TSCEC is organized as a non-profit corporation.
1994 TSCEC, High Plains and Sabine Enduro Circuits are merged into a single circuit called TSCEC.
1995 TSCEC obtains ownership of Endo News, which becomes the official publication of the circuit. The annual awards banquet format is changed. It is held as a separate all-day event with displays and prizes.
1996 The season lasted 16 months in order to arrange future schedules on an annual basis.
1999 George McMahan is elected President to replace the retiring Stan Simpson.
2002 The Red River Dirt Riders, Ft. Worth Trailblazers, and RFC Ministries came together to promote the annual Stephen Griner Memorial Sportsmanship Award.
2003 Scott Frost is elected President to replace George McMahan. In memory of Tim Vaughan, the Lubbock Trail Riders agree to furnish the ABC Challenge Team Award.
2004 In memory of Marvin Youngblood, the Ft. Worth Trailblazers rename the A Team Challenge Cup the Marvin Youngblood Challenge Cup.
2006 A mini series for young riders was added. The series consisted of four events.




1973/1974 The First Year

Season Highlights:
  • Roy and Lynett Pool formed the circuit in cooperation with various Texas enduro clubs.
  • Ten enduros were held. The average number of entries was 200.
  • 250 people attended the Awards Banquet, which was hosted by the Gulf Coast Trail Riders at Woodville, Texas. Master of Ceremonies was Roy Pool.

Men's State Champion: Charles Bishop (Houston)
Women's State Champion: Lynett Pool (Euless)




1974/1975 The Second Year

Season Highlights:
  • Thirteen enduros were held. The average number of entries was 350.
  • 400 people attended the banquet, which was hosted by the Permian Basin Motorcycle Club (Odessa) at Crane, Texas. Master of Ceremonies was Chuck Spaugh (Lubbock).

Men's State Champion: Henry Bostick (Dallas)
Women's State Champion: Lynett Pool (Euless)




1975/1976 The Third Year

Season Highlights:
  • Twelve enduros were held. The average number of entries was 450.
  • 700 people attended the banquet, which was hosted by Troy Taylor and Jimmy Fotjik at Rockne, Texas. Master of Ceremonies was Chuck Spaugh (Lubbock).
  • Lynett Pool (Euless) was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

1976/1977 The Fourth Year

Season Highlights:
  • Twelve enduros were held. The average number of entries was 550.
  • The Awards Banquet was hosted by the Lubbock Trail Riders at Post, Texas. Master of Ceremonies was Marvin Youngblood (Fort Worth).
  • Henry Bostick was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

  • The Awards Banquet was held the night before the PBMA race at Bronte Community Center. 220 attended the banquet. The auction grossed over $3,000.00
  • Amarillo Track and Trail Sport Riders were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

  • Fifteen enduros were held. The average number of entries was 209. Due to problems with US Forest Service permitting, one event was rescheduled and two events were cancelled.
  • The Awards Banquet was held on January 8, 2000 at the Wagon Wheel Ranch near Snyder. This was the second year for this location and Randy Hawkins was the guest speaker. Activities included a motorcycle gear auction, enduro games, awards presentations, and a dance.
  • Stan Simpson retired as President and George McMahan was elected to replace him.

  • The Awards Banquet was held on January 6, 2001 at the Wagon Wheel Ranch near Snyder. This was the third year for this location. Activities included a motorcycle gear auction, enduro games, awards presentations, and a dance.
  • Stan Simpson was inducted into the Honorary Hall of Fame for his many contributions to TSCEC including service as President from 1992-1999.

2001 The Twenty-Eighth Year

Season Highlights:
  • Sixteen enduros were held in Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The average rider attendence was 240. PBMA and the Ross Creek Riders held a joint enduro at Bronte.
  • The Awards Banquet was held on January 12, 2002 at the Wagon Wheel Ranch near Snyder. This was the fourth year for this location. Activities included a motorcycle gear auction, awards presentations, and a dance.
  • Shirley Miles was inducted into the Honorary Hall of Fame for her years of service as Scoring Chairperson.
  • Marshall Valentino became editor of the Enduro Times.

2002 The Twenty-Ninth Year

Season Highlights:
  • Seventeen enduros were held in five states. Average attendance was 230. PBMA took over responsibility for the Mile High Enduro
  • The Awards Banquet was held January 11, 2003 at the Texas Motor Speedway near Ft. Worth. Activities included the motorcycle gear auction and awards presentations with Malcolm Smith as the featured speaker. The day after the banquet, riders were given the opportunity to drive a NASCAR racecar on the Speedway track.
  • Larry Crane was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Mike Collins was inducted into the Honorary Hall of Fame.
  • Fredna Lair retired as score person.
  • The Red River Dirt Riders, Ft. Worth Trailblazers, and RFC Ministries came together to promote the annual Stephen Griner Sportsmanship Award.

  • The Awards Banquet was held on January 10, 2004 at Texas Motor Speedway near Ft. Worth. John and Jack Penton were the featured guests and activities included the motorcycle gear auction, raffles, and presentation of year-end awards.
  • Michael Wilson was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
  • Bruce and Fredna Lair were inducted into the Honorary Hall of Fame for their many contributions to the TSCEC.
