Short View of the

Train Robbers Enduro

Keith and I rolled into camp Sat. night at 11 PM after an 8 hour trip from Enid, Okla. We had difficulty finding a camp spot, with the big rigs everywhere and our unfamiliarity with the layout. Ended up next to a generator that ran all night. Sleep was a scarce commodity between the jitters and the noise.

Awoke to the sound of the day-trippers arriving in camp to unload and sign-up. The restless night became a dim memory with the dawn of a beautiful day.

Our start time was :59, it was starting to get hot before we left. Once on the way however, the shade and wind from moving made it a great ride, temperature wise.

The first three miles was a great warm-up, going between woods and open sections up to mile three. The first couple of checks were timekeeping checks with a lot of good trails between. The later test sections were very tight woods with lots of rocks and extra trees thrown in. The connecting trails all day were a blast to ride with a LOT of fun fast roller coaster type stuff with great scenery.

My most vivid memory of the ride was the tight section in the thick pine trees. So thick that it was noticeably darker, and what looked like 12 inches of pine needles covering the ground.

After my 44 ground miles I was ready to pack up and head for home. Traction was superb and dust problems were minimal. ADR did a Great Job with the layout and execution of the event.

I for one would like to see this also as a co-sanctioned continuing event.
